Arguments can be made for and against both given employment due to family connections. On the one hand, nepotism can provide stability and continuity. However, critics cite studies that reduce morale and commitment from non-related employees. Do you know that the term is nepotism bad or good has its origins in Catholic bishops who would be deprived of money, property, and priests for their “nephews”? The nephews were usually their illegitimate children, and it was a way for church clergy to retain power over their own property and in their families.
